We the Stars Disability Advocacy Group
Focus on Ability not disABILITY.We The Stars Disability Advocacy Group helps bring awareness to the public about how people with disabilities live and work, through seminars, workshops, meetings, and peer group discussions. We are still bullied by the public without truly knowing what we are capable of. They only focus on what we can't do instead of what we can do. We even create our own websites to show the public what we can do.
Use my voice to help people with disabilities.
I’m a disability advocate wanting to help other people with disabilities navigate through the system. I want other people with disabilities to come explore options and share ideas. Together we can make a difference.
Personal Profile
I was always bullied while growing up. It was tough for me to go to school everyday. I was transfered to a school for special education. All the students were the same. I finally found a safe place to go to school. I found my voice. I knew I wanted to do something to help other people. I joined YAI self advocacy and became a self advocate. I learned how to speak up... I went to protests, I went to Albany to speak with elected officials, I protested against budget cuts.I took a course with Partners in Policy making. I learned even more about self advocate. My dream came true and went to college through the AHRC Melissa Reggio program. I learned fashion design and continued my education with self advocacy. I want to develop a group where members share ideas on how to make things better for people with disabilities. We speak up for people who can't speak for themselves
